Recommended by the Mayo Clinic for people who want to get a
tan with out the dangers of UV Radiation, Air Brush Tanning is a beautiful
option to obtain a healthy glow! DHA,
the main ingredient in my tanning solution is a sugar derived product and if
taken care of properly can have you looking your golden best for up to a
week!
It is important to prepare your body properly and to care
for your skin after the tan has been applied.
The following are some things I recommend for proper care of an air
brush tan:
- Do any
waxing or other chemical hair removal procedures the day before an air
brush tan.
- Shave
and exfoliate the day of your tan.
I recommend some specific products for this exfoliation, please do
not use exfoliants with built in moisturizers or emulsifiers this will
make the tan look blotchy.
- Do NOT
shower or exercise directly after a tan.
DHA takes between 8 and 12 hours to chemically react with the
keratin in your skin. If you shower
before the proper amount of time has passed, your tan will not look even
for long.
- Wear
loose fitting, dark clothes to your tanning session. There is a bronzer in the product I use
that helps me identify how much product has been applied to each area of
your body. The tighter your
clothes, the more likely that bronzer will damage them. In addition, tight fitting clothing can
wear the DHA off before it has time to interact with the keratin in your
skin and this can lead to funky tan lines or wear marks.
- Moisturize
every night and every morning. Make
sure the product you are moisturizing with is of good quality as most
non-salon brand names have a high Ph level and can strip your tan off
rather than helping it to stay!
